Before choosing photography I was a barrister and a radio journalist.

Here's the the link between them: I took a break from law to join a radio news team and also worked on their current affairs show with Keith Vaz MP. Great fun apart from getting up at 3 am six days a week!

Keith discovered my passion for photography and asked me to shoot his sparkling new parliamentary calendar. This was soon followed by commissions from fashion and lifestyle magazines. And so I became a fashion photographer for a few years. Following a stint in newspapers I was selected by Downing Street and government departments as their preferred photographer for ministerial portraits and special events.

I was set to return to the legal world when I photographed my first wedding - and became utterly hooked. After two years I was one of Wedding & Home magazine's Top 10 British wedding photographers. Weddings give me the chance to use my fashion and press/reportage background and to meet amazing, inspiring people all over the world. Many of my wedding clients have become longstanding friends. 

Hello! magazine was kind enough to say:"Rahil captures moments other photographers would miss. He takes pride and care in producing vivid, imaginative images''.

My other clients have included Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Conde Nast Traveller, national newspapers, the Mayor of London's office, and various PR companies and charities. I have a particular soft-spot for Chance UK and their pioneering charitable work with kids. I first met them in 2004 when photographing Gordon Brown's Christmas party at Downing St, and we've worked together ever since.

Becoming a photographer has given me a career which I absolutely treasure, and where my work is varied, challenging and immensely enjoyable. So, thank you Keith Vaz - and thank goodness for no more 3 am bleary-eyed starts to the day!
